The Stockade District is over 300 years old. Founded in 1661, and rebuilt after a fire in the 1690's, its one of the oldest neighborhoods in the USA. With over 100 intact architectural landmarks and homes from the 18th century.

Building styles range from Dutch Federal and Greek Revival to Gothic and Victorian.

Art show in the spring, Stockade Walkabout and Garden tour held in the fall.

Part of the Erir Canal which is one of the 19th century's greates engineering feats. The park is located between the juncture of the Mohawk River and the Schoharie Creek.

This site features exibits, tours bu costumed guides, and outreach programs. There is picnicking, hiking, biking, horseback riding, and cross country sking available. The visitors center are open between May and October.
